  FAQ

  • Do I need any prior experience with playing an instrument?
Not at all necessary. I think in a lot of ways, starting from the very beginning with a clean slate in beneficial as we can get the foundations of learning a language like music rock-solid. How far you go is only limited by how strong your foundations are!
  • Am I too old/young to start learning an instrument?
I've taught from the ages of 5 to 95 years, and no one has found the path too difficult due to age. If you practice and put in the time, you WILL see steady improvement!) At the very start of learning an instrument, I normally suggest 15 mins of practice per day for the first 6 months, whatever the age of the student!
  • Do I need an instrument from the get-go?
No - I have a various spare instruments you can borrow (depending on a availability) for a short while until you decide whether learning a new instrument and the lessons are for you!
  • Why so much meterial per work?!
  • Do I need to know how to read music?
All though it is necessary to learn a type of music notation to tackle the music I present, it is very easy and straight forward. I've had no one struggle in the many years I've taught so far (ages 5 to 95!) From the very first lesson we go through it. After a while of playing, different types of music will most likely start to interest you, and in a lot of cases that is the point it could be more beneficial to learn traditional music notation.
